The New NetIAS Online Lecture Series Launches This Week

The Swedish Collegium is part of a new online initiative, organized by the the European Network of Institutes
for Advanced Study (NetIAS), to be launched later this week.

Starting on Thursday, the network opens its doors for a series of joint weekly online talks - the European
NetIAS Lectures. The lectures will be delivered by renowned scholars from the member institutes and welcome
everyone interested in the research conducted at the institutes and interested in timely discussions. The over-
arching theme of the series in the summer of 2020 is "Borders". Borders are in this case understood as real and
symbolic, political and social, thereby embracing a broad variety of perspectives and approaches. To see the
full lecture programme and for a link to the Zoom event, please click here (PDF).

The idea of the lecture series came up as a response to the current pandemic situation and to the restrictions
imposed by it, in order to showcase the quality and diversity of the research conducted at the NetIAS member
institutes.

Created in 2004, the NetIAS network is an informal association of twenty-five institutes for advanced study
from seventeen European countries. SCAS was one of the founding members of the network.
